Welcome to Solstice Midwives

We are here to guide you through this phase of life,
a new season of growth, birthing and parenthood

Solstice Midwives has two types of midwifery groups

The team group…

…is a collective of three midwives who share call, clinic and clients together and rotate through a shared on-call schedule. Each client will have the chance to get to know all 3 of the midwives throughout their time in care. The midwives practice together with similar philosophies and are a great compliment to each other, which their clients appreciate.

The solo group…

…is made up of two supported solo midwives who each have their own clients and support each other by covering one another for time off. Their clients get to know them well throughout pregnancy with individualized care and they also provide an opportunity to meet the other solo midwife, in the event that she should provide coverage. Their clients enjoy this model of care.

Each team also supports each other occasionally with time off through cross-coverage. The teams know each other very well, and this fully supported model creates a solid foundation for our midwives to provide excellent care for all of the clients and sustainability for the two teams.

We look forward to meeting you soon!

Midwives are registered maternity care providers who specialize in providing care to low-risk healthy clients and their newborns. Midwives provide care for pregnancy, labour & delivery, as well as postpartum for you and your infant for 6-8wks. Some of the key tenants of midwifery are Evidence-Based Care, Informed Choice, Continuity of Care, and Choice of Birthplace.

Midwives have been regulated in BC since 1998 and are governed by the BCCNM. We are covered under your BC Medical Service Plan (MSP), you do not need a referral. We offer both hospital birth and home birth. All of our team members hold privileges at Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
